I.C.E, Crystal Meth, Shard, Fried Rice, Glass BBQ are some of the common names for the highly addictive and destructive drug ICE, which is crippling our communities across Australia.
B.A.D.A.C, Koorie Hub, Department of Justice & Regulations and RAJAC, have partnered together to support young local koorie artists to create powerful resources to encourage seek help behaviour and minimise the effects of this damaging drug. Local Koorie youth gave a solid week of their time and talent to write record and film this powerful music video depicting two stories about the damage and destruction caused by ICE.
The narrative clearly shows that this drug leads to breakdown of relationships, families, and generally leads to loss of life or incarceration. Young people are encouraging seek help behaviour and believe that everyone can embrace change and people are not alone on their journey. Ice (Crystal Methamphetamine) is a stimulant drug, which means it speeds up the messages travelling between the brain and the body, with the effects lasting around 6 hours after use. It is a potent and addictive drug that has harmful side effects. The ramifications of addiction to ice, as with any other drug, can have detrimental effects not only on the individual, but the user’s family, friends and community. This drug does not discriminate between age, wealth, culture or gender. We want all members of our community to embrace change and avoid using ice.
