Why
This course aims to build the skills and knowledge of those who work, or want to work, in the community services sector. These skills involve providing support to individuals, families and community.
Our staff are committed to providing knowledge and learning for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students in a culturally accepting environment. This includes learning to work through the challenges of balancing work, family and community responsibilities.
This course aims to:
  • Develop your skills and knowledge to work in community services organisations so you can support people in a variety of ways including case management and advocacy
  • Deliver the program using an Aboriginal cultural lens where each student’s perspectives are valued and encouraged.
When
Course commences Wednesday 17th February 2021 (subject to enrolment numbers)
Course delivery:
  • Weekly workshops held on Wednesdays – attendance is essential
  • Supervised tutorials are held each Thursday to support your learning
  • 240 hour work placement in community services work – this may be your existing paid or volunteer work or we can help you find a placement
  • Assessment tasks are completed in class and some in your own time

Eligibility
You must be 18 years or older
Working or wanting to work in the community services sector
Training delivery:
  • Group facilitated learning, yarning and specialist guest speakers
  • Weekly supervised tutorial sessions and learning support
  • Assessment activities during workshop sessions
  • Individual and group presentations
  • Workplace based assessments
  • Significant cultural dates and Victorian school holidays are recognised
Cost
This course is Skills First funded. We have concession and non-Skills First eligible rates so cost can vary depending on your individual circumstances.

NB: Masks must be worn at all times whilst inside the venue.
